Connor Goldson is perfectly content at Rangers despite the uncertainty around his contract, transfer expert Pete O'Rourke has told Give Me Sport

The lowdown

Goldson is into the final six months of his £27,000-per-week deal and so, as it stands, he'll be leaving Ibrox on a free transfer come the end of the season.

He's been at Rangers for around three and a half years, having joined from Brighton and Hove Albion in the summer of 2019 for £3.06million.

It was reported in the autumn that West Ham United were one of the sides monitoring Goldson's situation.

The latest

O'Rourke feels that Goldson has enjoyed his spell at Rangers up to now and wouldn't move on account of being unsettled.

"I think he is quite happy at Rangers," he said (via GMS). "He's had a good time up there as well."

Ross Wilson is holding regular talks with the player, the club's managing director Stewart Robertson has revealed, and reading O'Rourke's update will surely be another boost to optimism levels after the superb win at the Westfalenstadion.

The verdict

First and foremost, Goldson is virtually an ever-present at Rangers. He's actually been selected for 25 of their 26 Premiership matches so far this season, and six of their seven Europa League fixtures (via Transfermarkt).

So there's no certainly no cause for frustration on that score.

What's more, the Gers are in a good place at the moment. They're only a point behind Celtic as they look to retain their Scottish Premiership title, and they should secure a place in the Europa League Round of 16 after beating Borussia Dortmund 4-2.

Champions League football looks an attainable goal, and the prize money could enable the club to hand out a lucrative new deal to the likes of Goldson (via Scottish Daily Express).

Perhaps the only reason he hasn't put pen to paper is that he feels as if he's good enough for another crack at the Premier League, having been named as one of the best players in the SPFL.

In other news, Rangers left this BT Sport man in disbelief.
