Rangers have an interest in signing Lyndon Dykes, but his current side will look to offer him a new deal to stop a potential move to Ibrox from happening.

The Lowdown: Beale wants a reunion with his former player

It was reported last month by Football League World that the Gers wanted to sign the 27-year-old in January to improve their options up front.

Rangers boss Michael Beale had managed Dykes previously when he was in charge of QPR earlier in the campaign, suggesting that he wants to be reunited with the player up in Scotland after he joined from Livingston in what was a club-record sale.

The Latest: QPR will offer new deal to prevent Dykes from heading to Rangers

Speaking to GiveMeSport, journalist Dean Jones has stated that Beale is 'keen' on the player, but his current club are 'offering' Dykes a new contract.

He stated: "Rangers are retaining their interest in QPR striker Lyndon Dykes as Beale is so keen on him.

"But now I’m hearing that the Hoops are offering him a new deal to try to make sure that move does not happen."

The Verdict: Dykes' record leaves a lot to be desired

The Scot has six Championship goals to his name for the Hoops this season and has 27 goals across 105 matches in all competitions.

However, we believe that Rangers could do much better than signing the forward, as his goal tally leaves a lot to be desired.

Dykes has only been able to get more than 10 goals in a league season more than once, which was in the 2020/21 Championship campaign as he found the net 12 times.

Beale may have seen something in the player when he was at the helm of QPR, but it's clear to see why some Gers fans could be underwhelmed should he make the move to Glasgow.
