Rangers are expected to head into the transfer market this winter as they look to improve in certain areas of the squad.
Steven Gerrard made a number of additions in the summer, almost completing a whole overhaul of the team, but it is felt that he is still keen on strengthening.
And, according to a report, it appears that he could be about to get the wheels in motion about bringing back a former player to Ibrox.
The Northern Ireland international, who captains the country, left the Light Blues in 2012 but could make a return on an initial loan move, with the option of a permanent switch.
Gerrard was allegedly keen on signing him in the summer, however, Mark Hughes was not prepared to let him go.
The Verdict:
Davis’ time at Southampton looks largely over and he could certainly be a good addition for Rangers this winter, as the Saints may be prepared to sanction a move for the out of favour midfielder.
The Northern Irishman became a fan favourite during his time at Ibrox, helping the club to win a number of domestic honours, as well as achieving a place in the 2008 UEFA Cup Final.
Gerrard believes the 33-year-old could help Rangers with his experience as they look to continue a challenge for their own honours this season.
