Chelsea remain firmly in the race for a top-four finish and, overall, life under Liam Rosenior has been encouraging.
Despite frustrating draws against Leeds and Burnley, performances have improved markedly. The team looks sharper, more unified, and far clearer in its identity than it did under former boss Enzo Maresca.
Rosenior appears settled on his strongest XI — but he may soon face a battle to keep one of his most trusted players.
Real Madrid to Go ‘All In’ for Enzo
Real Madrid are reportedly preparing a major push to sign Enzo Fernandez, a player they have tracked closely since his standout displays at the 2022 World Cup. Club president Florentino Perez is said to remain a long-time admirer of the Argentine midfielder.
According to The Touchline, Madrid are ready to go “all in” to secure Fernandez’s signature, with the move potentially hinging on another strong showing at this summer’s World Cup.
Fernandez has been one of Chelsea’s most influential figures this season, contributing 11 goals and four assists across 40 appearances in all competitions. Since arriving from Benfica in January 2023 for €121 million, he has grown into a central pillar of the squad.
Given his importance to Rosenior and the fact he still has more than six years remaining on his contract, any deal would likely require a fee exceeding Chelsea’s original outlay. Madrid are unlikely to be offered any discount for a player viewed as integral to the Blues’ long-term project.
Described by Rosenior as “gifted,” Fernandez’s quality is widely recognised, regarded by many as one of the Premier League’s elite operators in his position.
If Real Madrid do formalise their interest, Chelsea could face a defining transfer saga. Losing Fernandez at a time when the club is rebuilding momentum would represent a significant setback. For now, he remains central to Rosenior’s plans — but Madrid’s reported willingness to go “all in” ensures this is a situation worth watching closely.
