Manchester United fans have been left speechless by staggering reports from the continent today, which suggest Real Madrid will swoop for one of their newest stars.
Spanish outlet Don Balon claim Real Madrid are eying United’s Memphis Depay, with the La Liga leaders considering the 21-year-old Dutchman to be the ideal replacement for an ageing Cristiano Ronaldo.
Despite a slow start to his Premier League career, after a £25m arrival from PSV Eindhoven in the summer, Real president Florentino Perez is a big-fan of the Dutch winger and sees him as the perfect fit to his Galacticos philosophy.
However, with United demanding at least £64m for the player’s signature, Real Madrid face a stern test to secure his services; and may target another player instead, with Eden Hazard being regularly linked to the Santiago Bernabeu.
Our United regulars at the bar have stated they’d take £64m for Depay in the blink of an eye, not entirely impressed with his performances so far and unconvinced he will ever be worth that high a price.
