Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern have been intrigued by comments from a recent signing, as they listened with close attention during their game of darts to hear the quotes.
Metro reports that Kelechi Nwakali has explained his decision to reject Chelsea and a host of other leading clubs to sign for Arsenal, following confirmation that the Nigerian U17 World Cup star had penned a deal.
Arsenal landed Nwakali along with his compatriot Samuel Chukwueze in a double-swoop, with the duo officially becoming Gunners players upon their 18th birthday.
It sees Arsenal add to their list of exceptional young talents, which includes highly-rated Frenchman Jeff Reine-Adelaide and one of England’s brightest youngsters Daniel Crowley.
Whilst Nwakali had plenty of offers on the table, he revealed that signing for Arsenal was a ‘dream’.
‘I just came back from London, I have signed a five-year contract with Arsenal,’ he told All Nigeria Soccer. So many teams were interested in me but it has been my dream at a tender age to play for Arsenal.’
Nwakali and Chukwueze join teenager Alex Iwobi, already a senior international, as the Nigerians within Arsenal’s squad and our landlord is excited to follow their developments.
