The West Ham fans in the Transfer Tavern have been begging their club to sign Aleksandr Golovin after his display in the opening game of the World Cup. The 22-year-old midfielder was one of the best players on the pitch, dictating the tempo and running rings around the Saudi Arabians, scoring a goal and bagging two assists in the process.
The 22-year-old midfielder is fresh off the back of a fantastic season with CSKA Moscow where he scored seven goals and registered six assists in all competitions, including firing a delightful free-kick at The Emirates in the quarter-finals of the Europa League. The midfielder was also able to test himself against the likes of Paul Pogba in the Champions League when his side travelled to Old Trafford during the group stages.
The midfielder will be a pivotal part of Russia’s World Cup side if they are to advance past the group stages. The Russians have been drawn into a group with Egypt, Uruguay and Saudi Arabia and after their resounding 5-0 win yesterday they’ve put themselves into a great position to advance from the group. If they manage to go deep into the tournament against all odds, Golovin will have to maintain his form from the first game.

As you can see, the West Ham fans in the Tavern rate Golovin very highly and with Manuel Lanzini out for the season, the Russian would be a superb addition to Manuel Pellegrini’s squad.
