Rodgers ready to turn to 8-cap international to solve Celtic problem

Celtic and Chelsea fans here in the Transfer Tavern have formed a somewhat unlikely bond this season as both sets of supporters celebrate each and every victory as their sides push towards league glory in England and Scotland.

The Bhoys are 25 points clear at the top of the Premiership after their weekend draw with Rangers and are well on course to secure a historic domestic trophy treble in Brendan Rodgers’ debut season in the dugout with the League Cup already sewn up and a semi-final appearance in the Scottish Cup vs. the Gers waiting in April.

There doesn’t seem to be much on the horizon to derail the charge, but Dorus de Vries’ upcoming surgery to sort out an ankle injury niggle that’s been plaguing him of late means that he’ll miss a chunk of Celtic’s games and will leave Craig Gordon short of back-up.

This is sure to be a concern for Rodgers and reports from the Express claim that he will bring 31-year-old stopper Logan Bailly in from the cold to be the Scot’s reserve.

The eight-time Belgium international has not yet played under his Northern Irish manager and only featured a handful of times during Ronny Deila’s last season after his move to Celtic Park from OH Leuven.

Brendan Rodgers is already one of Celtic’s iconic managers – agree?
