Rodgers simply must utilise these 2 Celtic players as impact subs

It seems so long ago right now when thinking back upon the Ronny Deila era for the Celtic fans in the Transfer Tavern.

After watching their beloved Bhoys stagnate under the Norwegian’s watch for the past two years, Brendan Rodgers’ arrival has heralded a new dawn at Parkhead.

The former Liverpool coach represented quite the coup for the Hoops and he’s quickly restored both Champions League football and vibrant attacking enterprise to the ranks.

While the Northern Irishman has largely been a success since his move already, things haven’t always gone his way.

The thumping at Barcelona aside, there’ve been certain games in which the SPFL champions have struggled to dominate as best they should.

Rodgers’ work in the transfer market has afforded him a strong squad at Parkhead and he certainly has options off the bench from which to choose.

With that in mind, here are TWO players he really should be using as impact substitutions from now on.

Liam Henderson

Though Scott Brown, Nir Bitton and Tom Rogic (to a lesser extent) occupy the midfield berths under Rodgers, Liam Henderson’s performance against Motherwell was a promising one.

Having impressed on loan with Hibernian last term, the 20-year-old can provide youthful energy and an extra dimension as legs begin to tire in games.

Leigh Griffiths

giffy

Another former Hibee in the shape of Leigh Griffiths, it may seem odd to suggest putting last season’s Player of the Year on the bench.

Still, such is the excellence of Moussa Dembele, the Scotland international would be better served to bring on to stretch defences after the Frenchman batters into them.
