There are surprising reports in the Football Transfer Tavern this evening as The Sunday People suggest that Swansea City’s Michu could join Anzhi Makhachkala within the next 24 hours.
The news comes with the winter transfer window in Russia closing on Monday and Anzhi are reportedly preparing a shock late minute bid for the Spanish international.
Michu will be offered a huge pay rise at Anzhi as the Russian outfit try to avoid relegation from the top flight.
Their rich backer Suleyman Kerimov seems to be desperate to make amends about letting his best players such as Samuel Eto’o leave and reportedly wants to get Michu in very fast.
The 27-year-old was outstanding in his first season at the Liberty Stadium, but has struggled with an ankle injury this term and could be ready to leave the Welsh club.
Today’s speculation suggests that chairman Huw Jenkins will consider a serious bid from the Russians, although a loan move looks out of the question.
