When Man City signed Leroy Sane over the summer, not much was known about the young German. The Citizens in the Tavern knew that he was an attacking midfielder, but for the most part – the rest was unknown.
They weren’t sure if he would get a starting berth under Pep Guardiola, but just a few weeks into the 2016/17 season – that question had been answered.
For the most part so far this year, Sane has been utilised sparingly by his Spanish boss – with the youngster likely lacking enough experience to be trusted at the highest level by Guardiola.
Our landlord, who is a bit of a German football expert, touted Sane’s signing as a masterstroke over the summer – and he simply cannot understand why he is not getting any game time.

Leroy Sane is different to everything else that Pep Guardiola has at his disposal.
Players like David Silva and Kevin De Bruyne have proven to be key for Man City in recent years – but both attackers share a relatively similar play style.
Sane is different in that his style is more direct; he likes to run and dribble at defenders and cut in from the wings – which will give Pep Guardiola’s side a whole new aspect to their attacking play.
He might be inexperienced, but he proved last year that he can go with some of Europe’s best – and Guardiola must utilise his individuality this season.
Future Planning
Simply put, Man City have an ageing squad.
Players like David Silva and Nolito are key in the Man City attack – but they aren’t going to be around forever.
Guardiola has made it his mission to bring in young players like John Stones and Sane – and he must utilise them now before it is too late.
He will be able to learn from the likes of David Silva for a year or 2 before the Spaniard moves on – and that could be invaluable long-term.
If Guardiola is planning for a long-term stay with Man City – the future must start now.
