Celtic needed to get back on track with a big win and that’s exactly what they did yesterday when they smashed six goals past a sorry St Johnstone side at McDiarmid Park. With Brendan Rodgers’ side looking back in the mood and league leaders Hearts beaten over the weekend, the Scottish Premier League season looks to have been blown wide open.

The sensationally quadruple from James Forrest, coupled with strikes from Odsonne Edouard and Callum McGregor gave The Hoops the win and things will be looking up for the fans again, especially considering the result was a great response to the defeat they suffered to RB Salzburg in the week in the Europa League. Next up for Rodgers and co will be a home tie against Hibs after the international break, and the momentum they’ve picked up will be huge.
The Scottish Premier League is looking as open as ever. Hibs, Rangers, Hearts and Aberdeen are all capable of usurping Celtic at the top of the table and whilst the bookies will still firmly have Celtic down to win the league, it makes for positive viewing that the league isn’t becoming a walkover for Celtic as it has been in the past. If Hibs can stop Celtic in two weeks time then it will be a huge result and the Hoops will have forgotten all about hitting St Johnstone for six, although until they face Neil Lennon’s side, they’ll be enjoying yesterday’s result.
