A win tonight versus Red Bull Salzburg will be enough to see Celtic qualify for the next round of the Europa League with the SPL club currently sitting second in Group B on nine points.
With their opponents having won all five of their games so far, though, manager Brendan Rodgers will know a tough task awaits his side.
The former Liverpool boss, however, is confident the Bhoys have what it takes to progress into the knockout phase of the competition. “It was important for us to arrive in the last game with it all in our hands,” Rodgers told reporters in his pre-match press conference (via Celtic’s official Twitter account).
“We’ve put ourselves in a great position. We know it’s going to be a tough game but we have the chance to show our confidence and belief.”
And heading into the game, Rodgers was greeted by ex-Celtic defender Andreas Hinkel who watched his former side train yesterday morning.
Hinkel, a retired Germany international who also had spells at Stuttgart and Sevilla, was a consistent performer for Celtic, and it is good to see former players such as himself stay connected with the club.
Take a look at what supporters are saying about Hinkel below…
Can he still play right back?
