Celtic fans on Twitter desperate for a Lustig exit

Celtic have been absolutely sublime over the last two and a bit years under Brendan Rodgers and there’s no denying that Mikael Lustig has been at the heart of that. The Swedish defender has racked up 250 appearances for the Glaswegian club, but despite that, the fans can’t wait for him to leave.
Mikael Lustig led the Hoops out to victory on Sunday in what was his th #CelticFC appearance – what an achievement, Mika, congratulations!

The Swedish defender made his debut for the club back in 2012 and it’s fair to say that he’s come a long way since then. When he led his team out at Murrayfield on Sunday, Lustig would have been thinking solely about getting the win and booking his place at Hampden Park for the Scottish League Cup final, although his 250th appearance is still a huge milestone, even if the Bhoys don’t want him around.
The fans are keen to see him depart the club in either January or summer and seeing as he’s getting on a bit now at the age of 31, his Celtic days could be coming to a close. Either way, though, the fans will be grateful for what he’s done for the club and will be keen to see do well wherever he ends up, but for now, they just want to see him sold and make his Parkhead bow in the coming months, preferably going out as a Scottish League Cup winner.

Top player who can still do a job but modern day full backs need pace, which he no longer has. Still a miles better pick than Gamboa or Ralston though.

The fans would happily see Lustig leave tomorrow and even though he’s done a lot for the club it looks like his time is up.
