Celtic make enquiry for Moritz Bauer

Celtic are still looking to make a couple of additions before Friday’s deadline and it appears Brendan Rodgers has identified one possible target.

According to a report by the Daily Mail, the Bhoys have made an enquiry for Stoke City’s Moritz Bauer.

The Hoops are keen to add to their defence and believe the Austria international full-back can provide them with another option on the right-hand side of defence.

Rodgers currently has the likes of Mikael Lustig and Christian Gamboa in that position, however, both have looked shaky at times already this season.

Having only joined Stoke in January, Bauer looked impressive for the Potters in the Premier League and has an ability to attack down the wing, as well as work as a defender.

The 26-year-old has since struggled with life in the Championship and has found himself out of Gary Rowett’s side.

The Verdict:

Celtic are desperate to add defensive reinforcements down the right side of defence and Bauer could be a solid addition to make.

The right-back, who is valued at £4.5million by Transfermarkt, would certainly benefit the Hoops going forward and will help to bolster the defence.

However, it remains to be seen if they can lure him to Scotland as he still has a number of years left on his current deal.
