Celtic: Neil Lennon nails left-back pick despite questions on Greg Taylor’s absence

Celtic enjoyed a comfortable 2-0 home win against Motherwell on Sunday and much of the pre-match talk centred around man-of-the-match Jonny Hayes.

Hayes has been converted to left-back at Celtic due to the form of players in his more natural attacking position and as cover to the now departed Kieran Tierney.

Boli Bolingoli is currently sidelined and many may have thought fellow £3m left-back Greg Taylor would be the man to deputise for the Belgian against the Steelmen after performing admirably on his debut against St. Mirren with Read Celtic rating him as a 7/10 and the CelticBhoys.com noting how he ‘performed’ ‘admirably’.

Still, manager, Neil Lennon, opted for the extra attacking threat that Hayes poses and was rewarded with an outstanding performance from the Irishman, maybe he does know better than the armchair fan after all.

Hoops fans took to Twitter after the team was announced to question the line-up as Taylor is the natural full-back and with Hayes future uncertain at the club, many felt it would be the perfect opportunity to give former Kilmarnock player some much-needed game time.
