Yesterday was the first time Steven Gerrard got a taste of the Old Firm and to be fair to him, in his first game against Celtic you can’t blame him for being cautious. Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic gave Gerrard his first defeat in management but the fans weren’t best pleased with his tactical approach, with fans calling for change after just 45 minutes.

Rangers had very few chances in the game and in the first half they failed to register a single shot on target. Most people will have been banking on Gerrard’s side to be under the cosh for the game but to not register a shot on target in the first half despite starting two frontmen is a stretch too far. Kyle Lafferty and Alfredo Morelos looked ineffective against the Hoops and the fans were keen to let their side know how they felt.
Eventually, Olivier Ntcham broke the deadlock and Rodgers’ side went on to claim first blood this season. The fans won’t be entirely disappointed by the game, though. The two Old Firm clashes prior to yesterday’s meeting finished with an aggregate scoreline of 9-0 to Celtic and it’s clear that progress has been made by the Ibrox faithful. Gerrard will now be keen to get his head down and get some work done on the training pitch to ensure they bounce back against Dundee after the international break.

This is not a game plan I was expecting! How we’re no 3 down is beyond me!

At least it's still level, can't play any worse in the 2nd half surely.

Too much pressure for my liking. Hopefully have a bit of a go second half.

You can understand why the fans were so frustrated with the way their side was set-up and they’ll all be keen to do better when they return from the international break in two weeks.
