With the transfer window now officially closed, the Celtic hierarchy can turn their full attention to any contractual matters at the club that need sorting out.
And one player who could be in line to have his contract renewed at Celtic Park is Leigh Griffiths.
Griffiths has been a goal-scoring revelation for Celtic since joining back in 2014 from Wolves, and the 28-year-old has recently spoken of his desire to extend his stay in Glasgow and reach the 200-goal mark at the club (via Belfast Telegraph).
With Griffiths confirming he is in talks with the Celtic board over a new deal, Transfer Tavern decided to ask the Celtic faithful if the Scotland international was worthy of a new deal.
And, unsurprisingly, the poll was in favour of Griffiths putting pen to paper on fresh terms with 98% of Celtic supporters believing the former Wolves man is deserving of a fresh contract.
How close £2.03m-rated (via Transfermarkt) Griffiths is to actually signing one remains to be seen but, if it does happen, which looks to be the likely outcome right now, then it will come as a huge boost to manager Brendan Rodgers and the club’s supporters.
Celtic saw Moussa Dembele leave on deadline day to Lyon with no successor brought in, so there will now be the expectation for Griffiths, Odsonne Edouard and the other attackers Rodgers has at disposal to fire the club to another SPL title.
