Tom Rogic’s SPFL team of the week snub has surprised Celtic fans

Over the weekend, Celtic put six past St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park in what was one of The Hoops best performances in recent memory. James Forrest bagged himself four goals in just half an hour in the first half whilst Tom Rogic supplied three assists and the Bhoys expected both to included in the SPFL’s team of the week. However, the Australian has somehow been left out.

It’s normal for the SPFL to only include one player per team in their team of the week, but they do break this rule occasionally when one team has more than one standout man and this should have been one of those occasions. Tom Rogic only played 70 odd minutes before he was substituted by Brendan Rodgers and his effort to lay on three goals for teammates in that time is superb, and more than worthy of a spot in the team of the week.

In the replies to the SPFL’s tweet announcing the team of the week, the Hoops are all bewildered at how their Australian midfield maestro hasn’t made it into the eleven, even though James Forrest made it in and claimed the star man spot in the side for his spectacular quadruple. Rogic himself probably won’t be too bothered with his team of the week snub, although if he puts in another performance like the one he did on Sunday then it’s just a matter of time until he’s named in one soon.

Tom Rogic’s snub is ludicrous from the SPFL, and the Celtic fans on Twitter are keen to let them know that.
