At the end of the January transfer window in 2016, Celtic moved into the market to secure the signing of controversial striker Colin Kazim-Richards on a free transfer.
A player who began his career in Arsenal’s academy, Celtic supporters were familiar with Kazim-Richards from his handful of spells in English football where he struggled to make a name for himself.
But attitude problems both on and off the field had tarnished his fledgling career and, with the Hoops aiming for the SPFL title, the supporters were absolutely incensed by the deadline day acquisition…
@celticfc so excited about this signing, said nobody ever!!

@celticfc what an absolute shambles of a football club. Lawwell has stolen a living for years now. Utter garbage, embarrassing.

The selection of the reaction listed above is only the tip of the iceberg: Celtic supporters flocked in their numbers to destroy the club for their decision to sign a player who was a renowned trouble maker and consistent underachiever.
A tiny minority of the fan base may have been holding out hope for the Turkey international to silence his doubters on the field of play, but those dreams failed to turn into reality.
Kazim-Richards’ time at Celtic Park was short and not very sweet, as he made just 11 appearances in the SPFL, scoring 1 goal and providing 1 assist in his final 2 fixtures before he was sold to Brazilian outfit Coritiba at the end of the season.
It was an underwhelming spell to say the least and the supporters who poured scorn over the Celtic hierarchy for their questionable transfer decision were certainly proven right during his spell.
And taking his record at Celtic into consideration alongside the ridicule which greeted his arrival, it’s fair to say Kazim-Richards was one of the worst signings in the club’s recent history.
