Sell Vincent Kompany: This £22.5m-rated ace would be far better for Man City

Vincent Kompany is a fan favourite amongst the Man City fans in the Transfer Tavern, but it’s fair to say that the Belgian has had a tough few years. He’s no longer the consistent, brilliant ace that captained the Citizens to years of success. Instead, he’s been marred by a lack of injury and form.

This summer, then, though it will likely pain Man City, it might be time to move him on.

Fortunately, there isn’t a shortage of top central defenders that City could look at to replace him – and our landlord thinks that Leicester City ace Harry Maguire, who is rated at £22.5 million by Transfer Markt, would be a perfect choice.

Maguire has enjoyed a tremendous rise in the Premier League, and last season for Leicester City he was arguably one of England’s best. Offering brilliant tackling and aerial play, the Englishman was crucial as the Foxes put off the threat of relegation. Furthermore, his form allowed him to become a player that can consistently be relied upon – and that was a huge benefit of utilising him.

He’s also not just limited to the defensive side of the game. Maguire is brilliant with the ball at his feet, and he’s become somewhat of a ball-playing defender for the Foxes. Given Man City’s playstyle, that would be a perfect fit under Pep Guardiola.

His fine form has earned him a call-up to the World Cup with England this summer, and it’s no less than he deserves. The 22-year-old has a bright future ahead of him, and though Kompany’s boots are big – so are Maguire’s.
