The domestic season just keeps getting better and better for Celtic fans in the Transfer Tavern.

With the league being an all but foregone conclusion, it was important that Celtic kept their key players in the January transfer windows and with Chelsea snooping around Moussa Dembele and Craig Gordon, the news that both were staying at Parkhead sent our Hoop fans into pure ecstasy in the Transfer Tavern.

However, with Dembele’s base value constantly rising – it is only a matter of time before he decides to leave Glasgow and further his career elsewhere and our Landlord believes that boss, Brendan Rodgers would be wise to experiment with his squad seeing that the league is practically tied up.

Alongside this, bitter rivals Rangers will only become more of a threat in the SPFL and it is important that Celtic are well equipped to deal with this, as well as maintaining a squad that is able to compete in Europe. Our Landlord believes it is for Rodgers to use this second half of the season to get all his players up to speed and make it abundantly clear what is expected of them in order to take the club up a level.

In an act to rotate his squad, these are TWO players that Rodgers must give more respect and game time at some point this season…

Nir Bitton

The Israeli midfielder has been a victim of Stuart Armstrong’s impressive form for the Bhoys this season – who along with captain Scott Brown, have dominated many midfield battles this season for Celtic.

Although Armstrong usually prefers to play in an advanced role, the many options in attacking midfield positions have seen him drop back meaning Bitton has had to warm the bench for the majority of the season.

With strength in depth being an obvious necessity in modern day football, our resident Celtic fans would love to see Bitton get more of a run out as they believe he is reliable and has never really let the side down. Only time will tell if Brendan Rodgers feels the same.

Cristian Gamboa

Although seen as a right back, Gamboa is a versatile player who can play in many positions if need be.

Our Landlord believes a player like Gamboa is vital to any squad, as he can fill in anywhere but with Mikael Lustig being the pinnacle of consistency this season – Gamboa has found it hard to get a gig at Parkhead.

Gamboa also has international experience with Costa Rica whom he got to the quarter-finals with in the 2014 World Cup as well as being a former Premier League footballer with West Brom. His experience could well be vital among this Celtic squad and Bhoys fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping that Brendan Rodgers gives him more chances in this second half of the season.
