A number of Sheffield Wednesday fans were left in awe of Fernando Forestieri’s latest showing for the Owls, with many taking to Twitter to share a number of superlatives regarding his performance.
The 30-year-old arguably had one of his best showings in recent memory for the Owls as he was hugely influential in their 3-3 draw against Birmingham City at St. Andrews on Saturday afternoon.
The Italian-Argentine managed to convert from the penalty spot as well as provide Jacob Murphy with an assist to put the visitors in the lead with 25 minutes or so to go in the game.
In fact, his performance was regarded as one of the best on the day for the Yorkshire-based outfit with WhoScored handing him a match rating of 7.46 – with Barry Bannan having scored just 0.01 higher than him on their algorithm.
To earn that score, Forestieri managed to take two shots on goal, with one on target, played two key passes for his team-mates, however he did appear to have a problem with the ball at his feet at times. He had been dispossessed twice whilst he also had three bad touches and was caught offside four times (WhoScored).
Nonetheless, fans were impressed with what they saw from the 30-year-old as many of them took to Twitter to laud his performance. One fan even mentioned that he felt the Italian-Argentine was someone that they had been missing for a very long time.
Here are just some of their reactions to Forestieri’s display…
Having Forestieri playing up front with someone to play off and runners in support is what we have missed these last three years.

Fletcher comes on for The Owls third and final change.
Good to see him back and he replaces Forestieri who has had one of his more positive afternoons.
The Forestieri Wednesday fans love and the team needs.

I’m going to try and look at the Positives. 1) Forestieri played a blinder. 2) Fox is back 3) Fletcher is back 4) Bannan played like Bannan of old 5) we scored 3 goals. Shame we couldn’t hang on. #swfc

Forestieri once again proving he’s the best player we have and bolding the question of why he has been exiled for so long. #swfc

Positives:
Forestieri, Harris, Murphy and Bannan looked good. Wickham did enough to start next game.Negatives:
Game management. Defensively. Not killing the game off #SWFC— Geoff SWFC (@GeoffSWFC) February 22, 2020
