Some Sheffield Wednesday fans have been weighing up the option of adding loanee Connor Wickham to the ranks on a permanent basis, but the verdict isn’t a positive one.
The 27-year-old joined Hillsborough at the beginning of the year on loan from Crystal Palace (via SWFC) but Wickham is only contracted until the end of this current campaign. However, the forward is a very familiar face for Owls fans, since he has already enjoyed two loan spells prior to this one at Hillsborough. Wickham was loaned out to Wednesday twice whilst he was at Sunderland, spending back-t0-back one-year periods away from his parent club (via Transfermarkt).

The Englishman has amassed 55 goals in his career so far and has played for five senior clubs (as per Transfermarkt). However, some Wednesdayites aren’t convinced on keeping him after his loan expires. One Owl has said Wickham is ‘too injury prone’ whilst another supporter feels the club ‘cant afford him’.

Only if Fletcher leaves otherwise i think we could look at someone younger. Wasn’t a fan of Wickham coming back as not done much since he was last with us.
