What a start to the 2019/20 campaign it has been for Sheffield Wednesday striker Steven Fletcher.
The Scotland international has hit the ground running this term, netting four goals in just seven appearances for the Owls so far.
His latest strike was a header from point-blank range against Huddersfield Town, helping to secure a 2-0 win against their Yorkshire rivals in what was Garry Monk’s first game as manager.
It was Fletcher’s third goal in his last three appearances, and he is emerging as Wednesday’s first choice striker this season as they battle for a place in the Championship play-offs.
He has already bagged over a third of the tally he managed in the entire of the 2018/19 campaign (11) and with Fernando Forestieri out through suspension (Sky Sports) and Jordan Rhodes not fancied thus far, he is grasping the opportunity to become the main man at Hillsborough.
The Owls sit in ninth place at the moment, just a single point behind West Brom who occupy the final play-off place. If they are to gain promotion this season, then they will need their number nine to continue his hot streak in front of goal throughout the campaign.
His performances will surely please the newly installed Monk, and they have also got the Sheffield Wednesday faithful raving about him:

I’ve always rated him. He just needs the right service. A very good striker. Glad we’ve got him.

Stick Winnall at side of him and play 4-4-2 and I think we’ll see great things from both this season
