Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern are still recovering from last night’s shock smash and grab job from Vincenzo Montella’s Sevilla. Wissam Ben Yedder came off the bench and scored two goals in four minutes to ensure Sevilla a place in Friday’s quarterfinal draw. Although the most jaw-dropping part of the night for the fans was Mourinho’s comments after the game, as he took a pop at his own club.

The comments (reported by Goal journalist Kris Voakes on Twitter) from Mourinho have added insult to injury for a number of fans. The Old Trafford faithful have blamed the Portuguese tactician’s negative approach to the game as the key reason to the Mancunian giants being dumped out of Europe. Mourinho secured a 0-0 draw in Seville, a result which tipped the tie in United’s favour as all they had to do was beat Sevilla on the night in Manchester to progress.
Mourinho’s United looked devoid of confidence and attacking prowess in yesterday’s game, made worse by the fact that they were so fancied by most fans to advance. Our resident Red Devils will now have to focus on Saturday’s visit of Brighton as they look to bounce back from yesterday’s disappointment by booking themselves a place at Wembley in the FA Cup last four.
