Unai Emery’s Arsenal revolution needs to continue with more signings.
The Spaniard has not wasted any time with his recruitment so far, bringing in the likes of Bernd Leno, Sokratis Papastathopoulos and Stephan Lichsteiner to the Emirates.
However, more signings are needed if Arsenal are to once again compete for the Premier League title. Last season the club finished a lowly 6th, and many will be relieved it finally saw the end of long-serving French manager Arsene Wenger.
Emery looks like he has taken a serious approach to toughening up the defence, but in midfield and out wide he could do with more options to push the club forward. In Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, the Gunners do have a forward line capable of winning the League, but they need the right service if they are to be as effective as is possible.
With that in mind, here are THREE signings Unai Emery could make which would mean the Gunners would win the Premier League with ease…
The midfielder is a free agent after running down his contract at Schalke.
Despite his young age of just 22, Meyer has racked up over 150 appearances for Schalke. Meyer is famed for having a great technique and comfort on the ball, so in many ways is the classic Arsenal midfielder.
His ability on the ball will help the Gunners control games in terms of possession, Meyer also has a lethal through-ball which could do wonders for Arsenal’s forward line.
On a free transfer, this is surely a no-brainer for Unai Emery, Meyer must be signed.
22-year-old Cristian Pavon is a truly exciting prospect.
The winger, who is currently at Boca Juniors, is valued at £20m by Transfermarkt.
Already a part of the Argentina squad, Pavon is an almost unbelievably gifted player. Possessing two great feet, he will beat players on the wing and dart inside the box to the peril of defences. He also possesses a good shot. His electric skills would set the Premier League alight.
If Arsenal don’t sign Pavon, they will regret letting one of South America’s brightest talents slip through their fingers.
The former Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City defensive midfielder has been a fine player for Sevilla for many seasons now.
Whilst never that highly rated in his time in England, Nzonzi seems to have come into his own in Spain. He recently played a part in France’s World Cup win, coming on for Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante.
Nzonzi is very much in the same mould as Kante, a true ball-winning midfielder with great energy. Arsenal have long lacked a player like Nzonzi, who stands up to be counted when it matters and doesn’t go missing when times get difficult.
This would be a very strong addition for Arsenal.
