South American hopeful of Man United deal

Following a 4-0 thumping at the hands of Chelsea yesterday, it seems the Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern are not alone in fearing for their future.

The Jose Mourinho era is yet to wholly convince the Red Devils propping up the bar and their trouncing at the hands of the Blues has soured the mood yet again.

The long-suffering United faithful are scared for their future and reports from the Sun claim stalwart defender Antonio Valencia is feeling the same.

Out of contract at the end of the season, the 31-year-old is reportedly sweating about whether or not he will be kept on at Old Trafford.

Signed from Wigan Athletic back in 2009, the Ecuadorian has been the first-choice option at right-back for a number of years now, despite starting his career as a winger.

The club are understood to have the option to take up another year, though the South American is not thought to have been told if they will or not yet.

While he is believed to be keen on another deal, he’s said to be unsure if top brass at the Theatre of Dreams are convinced they can get another season out of him.

Should Valencia get a new deal? Let us know below…
