According to goal.com, Barcelona are set to make an offer for Southampton’s Cedric Soares after the Catalans have seen Hector Bellerin seemingly decide to stay with Arsenal.
It’s a move that has been welcomed by the Gunners fans here in the Transfer Tavern but it’s certainly not been afforded such a greeting by our resident Saints fans.
Cedric impressed at EURO 2016 from right back as Portugal won the tournament with him a key part of the side and up until his injury for the south coast club he was doing well.
So well, it appears, that the attention of the Blaugrana has been attracted and now the Saints could face a very arduous task in keeping hold of their man.
Barca’s previous target at right back, Hector Bellerin, looks as though he’ll sign a new deal with current club Arsenal and so Cedric is reportedly their contingency plan, much to the annoyance of our resident Saints.
Should he leave it’s likely Cuco Martina will continue at right-back who, it has to be said, has done fairly well in the Portuguese’s absence through injury.
