Manchester United will be looking to seal second spot over the coming weeks as they look to finish the campaign on a high and end the season as close as possible to rivals City, while also looking to pip Liverpool into runners up.
The Red Devils are looking ahead to what promises to be another big summer of spending under Jose Mourinho, with the Portuguese manager likely to be on the hunt for even more world class talent to supplement and already exciting squad.
However, our landlord here in the Tavern thinks that Mourinho could do with looking closer to home, and he thinks that Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prowse could be the man to run United’s midfield for years to come.
A brilliant young midfielder, Ward-Prowse possesses all the tools needed to make it to the top of world football, and the chance to play with players of seemingly higher ability levels and learn under a coach like Mourinho would be something he could not pass up.
A set piece specialist and with immense passing range, the youngster has time on his side in terms of development, but may well look at some of his former Southampton teammates who have made big money moves away and want to follow in their footsteps.
With United set to lose Michael Carrick this summer, Ward-Prowse could be the long term replacement many United fans will be clamouring for.
Red Devils, what do you think? Would you take the Saints star? Let us know in the comments!
