Southampton fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern were always fearful that Ronald Koeman might look to raid his old club as he looks to improve his new-look Everton side; and one Southampton star has finally had his say on reports linking him with a move away from the club.
With Romelu Lukaku consistently being linked with a move away from Goodison Park, Ronald Koeman has had a striker at the top of his transfer list all summer long, with one man in particular linked with a move.
The player in question is Charlie Austin, who has had a tough time of it at Southampton since joining from QPR – but that has seemingly not put off Ronald Koeman, who appears intent to sign the forward.
Koeman of course signed Austin whilst in charge of Southampton, joining the club in early 2016 after a 3 year spell with QPR in which he bagged an impressive 45 league goals for the London side.
After several days of rumours, Austin has seen fit to speak out over Twitter and put rumours regarding the transfer to bed…

“You can only control the controllable”, the tweet reads, “don’t believe everything you read”.
The tweet appears to confirm that Austin is not looking for a move away from the club, as has been reported; but instead intends to stay and fight for his place.
Everton fans at the bar have been discussing their disappointment at the news – but what do you think? Everton fans – were you keen for Austin to move to Godson Park? Southampton fans – what are you expecting from Charlie Austin now that he appears set to stay at St Mary’s this summer?
