Tottenham Hotspur have made an out-of-window move for Sporting star Manuel Ugarte, according to reports.
The Lowdown: Paratici making moves?
The north Londoners are reportedly weighing their next moves in the transfer market despite a very busy summer.
Spurs are eyeing a move for Leicester City star James Maddison, for instance, and reports suggest the Premier League star is keen on a move to Antonio Conte’s side (Football Insider).
This comes after sporting director Fabio Paratici sealed moves for Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster, Yves Bissouma, Richarlison, Clement Lenglet, Djed Spence and Destiny Udogie in the latest window – not to mention a permanent deal for star defender Cristian Romero.
There have also been recent murmurs of Spurs’ interest in Sporting star Ugarte, who is impressing in the Portuguese top flight.

Reports out of Portugal, now relayed by the English press, have more on Tottenham’s interest.
According to a report by Jornal de Noticias, translated by London World, Tottenham have opened talks for Ugarte by making contact, alongside Ligue 1 giants Paris-Saint Germain.
It is also reported that the 21-year-old has a £52.1 million release clause, but this figure could rise to £65.5m if the starlet midfielder puts pen to paper on a new Sporting deal.
The Verdict: Go further?
It appears Spurs and Paratici are already laying the groundwork to sign Ugarte, but would he be worth such a significant investment?

The defensive midfielder is currently starring for Sporting, topping their charts for most tackles made per 90 and completed dribbles (WhoScored).
Uruguay’s latest rising star has also been revered by media with reporter Rodrigo Romano calling him ‘quality’ and ready to be a fixture for the national team.
In this modern era, every player worth having will demand a hefty fee, so it’s time for Spurs to keep backing Antonio Conte.
