Newcastle fans will be the first to tell you this: The Magpies are too big to be in the Championship… well, that’s what they have been saying all season long in the Transfer Tavern.
The Toon fell into the second tier after a disastrous 2015/16 in the Premier League, but they look on course to bounce straight back up, as they did in 2009/10, and, to be honest, the size of their fanbase warrants top level football.
Wherever Newcastle have been this term they have drawn big crowds and been seen as a marquee visitor, so Sheffield Wednesday’s decision to release more away tickets for the clubs’ looming clash makes some sense.

Newcastle made the announcement via their official Twitter account this afternoon, and fans are both happy and annoyed. Some are thrilled that they will get the chance to go, while other believe there should be more on sale for the plentiful travelling Toon Army…
