Alex Neil got his first win as manager of Sunderland with a 3-0 victory at Wigan Athletic in League One on Saturday afternoon.

Bailey Wright opened the scoring within the first couple of minutes of the game, before Ross Stewart added two more to give the visitors all three points and aid their promotion charge.

They were left frustrated at times, with the Latics enjoying more possession, and while there were some very good performances in a Sunderland shirt, some seemed to struggle. The Transfer Tavern have used statistical experts SofaScore to analyse who the three worst performers (to have played at least 45 minutes) were for the visitors on the day:

Carl Winchester (6.6)

Admittedly joint-third worst with Elliot Embleton in terms of overall rating (6.6), Winchester ranks in third here as he played the entire match.

The right-back lost out on nine of his duels and also failed to record a single dribble, block or key pass, losing the ball nine times.

Corry Evans (6.4)

With a 6.4 rating, Evans was ranked as the Wearsiders' second-worst player against Wigan.

The captain lost two duels and never managed a single shot on goal, dribble, clearance or key pass, while he was also guilty of losing possession 12 times.

Lynden Gooch (6.3)

Gooch was ranked as Sunderland's worst performer on the day with a 6.3 rating.

The winger was unsuccessful in nine of his duels, while he also had no shots on target and made no key passes or accurate crosses.

Gooch also lost the ball on 15 separate occasions, the sixth-most out of any of his team-mates.
