Sunderland: Fans hammer Josh Scowen - Sunderland News

Sunderland may have progressed to the Football League Trophy final on Wednesday night, but the fans were far from happy with the display of Josh Scowen in doing so.

The Black Cats faced Lincoln in the semi-final as they attempted to make it to Wembley. The match went to penalties after Charlie Wyke cancelled out Anthony Scully’s opener. Fortunately, the north-east outfit won 5-3 in the shoot-out to progress – they will now face Tranmere in the showpiece.

Who does Josh Maja play for?

Despite the positive result, though, the fans were clearly disappointed with Scowen’s display. The midfielder won just two of his five duels and was taken off with 30 minutes left on the clock (SofaScore) – far from a show of confidence in his ability from manager Lee Johnson.

Was Josh Scowen the worst player on the pitch vs Lincoln?

The fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts on the 27-year-old.
