The transfer window will soon be open for business and our Everton fans here in the Transfer Tavern are hoping for more deals to be done after the summer.
The Toffees were very busy during the last window as their new found wealth saw them sign the likes of Yannick Bolasie, Idrissa Gueye and Ashley Williams whilst John Stones left for Manchester City.
And now, with them aiming for European football under Ronald Koeman, our Blues fans here by the bar are expecting more of the same in January.
Indeed, our landlord reckons the Merseysiders will be busy once the window opens due to the competitive nature of the league and thinks that, in particular, the club need to be targeting midfield options.
That’s why, then, he’s come up with a list of four that at least one of should join the club. See what you think…
Adam Forshaw

Forshaw has been at the club before earlier on in his career but was deemed not good enough and let go.
Since then, though, he’s worked his way back up into the top flight and now looks an assured Premier League player with Middlesbrough. He passes the ball very well whilst he’s not scared to mix it up in a physical battle and with him being native to the city he’d surely be welcomed back. Our landlord thinks it would be an inspired buy.
Memphis Depay

Depay must still have some talent in his boots but it’s unlikely he’s going to find it at Manchester United with him looking completely shot for confidence.
He needs to get out, then, and our landlord reckons it would be very suitable to see him link up with his fellow Dutchman Koeman at Everton. If the former Southampton boss can get the potential of Depay out on the Goodison Park pitch they’ll be sitting pretty for sure.
Morgan Schneiderlin

Another player that needs to leave United is Schneiderlin.
The Frenchman would be the perfect centre midfielder for a club like Everton as he just needs the game time to help transform their style of play. He was class at Southampton and helped them tick-over nicely so if he could do the same kind of job for the men in blue our landlord thinks he would become a fan-favourite in pretty much no time at all.
Xherdan Shaqiri

The Stoke man has been impressive since joining from Inter Milan and has scored a number of great goals.
He’s short and stocky and that gives him great power to cover the turf and burst forward which would suit Ronald Koeman’s preference for width in his team’s attacking play. With Yannick Bolasie out Everton need a new winger and Shaqiri, our landlord believes, would be the perfect solution to that particular problem.
