Aston Villa fans at the Football Transfer Tavern tonight aren’t hoping for a better season, they’re demanding it.
Aston Villa produced one of the worst seasonal displays of the Premier League era during the 2015/16 season which saw them relegated, dead last, with only three wins and 17 points to their name.
The 2016/17 season in The Championship, wasn’t much better for the club as they finished in 13th place whereas fellow relegated sides Norwich and Newcastle were only ten points off the play-offs and won the title, respectively.
It is clear that some real changes need to be made at Villa Park and with Steve Bruce recently bringing in former Chelsea captain, John Terry, those changes are clearly already being made.
Whilst Bruce can bring some new players for the first team, there is still some players at the club that either aren’t quite ready for that spot yet, or who have missed their chance all together.
On that note, here are TWO players who surely won’t be in Steve Bruce’s first day match squad next season.
Micah Richards

What happened to Micah Richards? The two-time Premier League winner with Manchester City has had a fall from grace to say the very least. Admittedly, a knee injury kept him out for a good portion of last season, but even when he was fit, Steve Bruce only picked him for his squad 17 times.
Now that may sound like a lot, but when you realise he appeared only twice in those 17 occasions, despite Bruce’s public admiration of the player, it looks quite clear that he has no plans for Richards going forward.
Callum O’Hare
Callum O’Hare was promoted from the U-23’s side to the senior squad’s bench three times towards the tail end of last season. Maybe Steve Bruce wanted the 19-year-old to experience what a first team match day is like in preparation for one day bringing him up to the first team permanently.
Whether that was the case or not, it is unlikely O’Hare will be featuring on the bench again this time around, perhaps a loan spell could give Bruce the chance to see what he is made of.
