Taken their chance: These 2 Chelsea players have seriously proven their worth during pre-season

It has been a tough pre-season for the Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern…

An emphatic victory against Arsenal in their first match in Asia has been forgotten about following a couple of defeats against Bayern Munich and Inter Milan, leaving the fans in the pub feeling very concerned indeed.

With just two weeks to go until the start of the Premier League season, things aren’t looking too good for the Blues, and with Antonio Conte keen to avoid a repeat of the 2015/16 season, there is a genuine need for improvement.

However, it wasn’t all doom and gloom. There were a number of players that really impressed during pre-season, and if given the chance, they will no doubt continue in that vein next season.

Conte has been backed with a war chest this summer, but these TWO players have proven their worth and deserve a chance next season…

 Jeremie Boga

Jeremie Boga capitalised on an injury to Pedro and forced his way into the first team over the summer, and he returned that faith with a number of fantastic performances.

The Frenchman impressed with his technique, trickery and pace – often leaving defender trailing in his wake.

He isn’t yet the finished package, but he proved that he can hang with some of Europe’s best attackers, and he would struggle to find a better tutor than Eden Hazard next season.

 Michy Batshuayi

Michy Batshuayi was poor last year, but he was an entirely different player over the summer.

The Belgian scored goals throughout the campaign, and what’s more, his link-up play proved that he’s ready to make the step up and step in to Diego Costa’s shoes.

His first season was one to forget, but he appears to have embedded into the Chelsea first team – and he looks ready to make a real impact next season.
