Indeed, recent reports suggesting one big man (who isn’t Wayne Rooney) could soon leave Old Trafford come slightly out of left field.
According to ESPN, Jose Mourinho is open to the idea of selling Chris Smalling this summer amid questions from the Portuguese about the 27-year-old’s mental strength.
Having skippered the side regularly during Louis van Gaal’s era in charge at the Theatre of Dreams, it’s been quite a fall from grace for the England international since Mourinho’s arrival.
With Phil Jones, Eric Bailly and even the crocked Marcos Rojo surely ahead of him in the pecking order these days, many of our resident Red Devils aren’t all that concerned about losing the former Fulham man.
