Our Newcastle fans here in the Transfer Tavern are feeling pretty down today after their club let in a late own-goal to draw with QPR last night.
The Magpies could have gone to the top of the Championship table ahead of Brighton had they held on for the win at St. James’ Park but it wasn’t to be as the Loftus Road side nicked a point.
The draw was made worse by Leeds United’s late winner at Blackburn Rovers to close the gap to the top two and so now the Magpies need to be careful they don’t drop into the play-off mix.
It was a game that saw plenty of the north-east club’s players come in for criticism but one man that seemed to get more than most was Ayoze Perez.
With Dwight Gayle out injured the club need to pull together and find goals with the likes of Perez certainly one of those expected to contribute.
He couldn’t find the net yesterday, though, and was hammered on Twitter for a pretty poor all-round display.
Our landlord’s been sifting through what was said and has come up with the best tweets for your perusal below:
There is absolutely nothing anyone could say to convince me that Ayoze Perez deserves his place in this team. #NUFC

It's Brighton's title to lose now!
Now drop Ayoze Perez and Gouffran, both have been playing awful; and play Sammy Ameobi and Mitro!#NUFC— David Alexander (@DavieAlexander1) February 1, 2017
