After a wonderful season, the Celtic fans in the Transfer Tavern are expecting more of the same next season.

The Bhoys completed the domestic treble which saw them go unbeaten in the league in what was an unbelievable first year for Brendan Rodgers, despite the domestic football in Scotland not being the most challenging.

With that in mind, the Bhoys are looking to go up a notch for next season and the off season is a great time for Rodgers to assess his squad in time for the start of the new season.

To say the fans clad in green and white within the Tavern are excited about the future would be an understatement, but the talk is currently about the players that are gathering dust within the Celtic squad due to them not being in Rodgers’ plans.

Whilst it is simple to say that Rodgers needs to dip into the transfer market – these players really need to escape Parkhead as soon as possible and in order to make room for new signings, it has to be a priority to get rid of these players and our resident Hoops in the Tavern have been saying who they feel should leave their club.

Whilst a lot of names have been thrown around, our landlord has weighed in and he has outlined the two main players who are rotting at Celtic and need to leave ASAP.

Gary Mackay-Steven

The addition of Jonny Hayes has all but eradicated next season’s game time for Mackay-Steven and our landlord feels that the Scotsman has to leave Parkhead in order to save his career.

There is no doubt that GMS has been unlucky with his injuries but the resident Celtic fans in the Tavern cannot see how he can improve their squad, but what they do see is a fantastic opportunity to make some money, and they have been willing the club to sell the Scottish international for some time now.

Nadir Çiftçi

The 25- year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at Pogoń Szczecin in Poland but the Celtic fans in the Tavern would like to see a permanent move for Çiftçi, who simply has not cut the mustard since his move from Dundee United in 2015.

The Turk is just gathering dust and a move could well rejuvenate his career.

Our landlord has noted that Çiftçi is proven in the Scottish Premier League so a move to another Scottish club could well be in the pipeline this Summer.
