Scooping the Premier League 2’s Player of the Month award in February, Liam Walsh has established himself as a crucial part of the Toffee’s U23 side and is seen by many Everton fans as the next breakthrough star at Goodison Park.
Everton have bolstering depth in midfield, which may make it difficult for Walsh to break into the side, but his performances this season should earn him the opportunity to play for the first-team in pre-season; and the sky is the limit from there.
The depth of Everton’s squad will be tested by Europa League involvement next season and Walsh could be a useful asset.
Matty Foulds
Upon his signing in 2015, Everton set out a two-year plan for Matty Foulds that would lead the young defender into the club’s first-team and he’s now coming to the end of that plan- and pre-season is the perfect opportunity for him to display how far he has come.
Like Walsh, Foulds is a regular in the club’s U23 side and his impressive performances have left him banging on the door of the first-team. With the rigours of playing in the Europa League next season, Everton’s squad will be stretched and Foulds could be crucial.
