After a slightly below par start to the season, Celtic have resumed their dominance at the top of the Scottish Premiership and currently stand two points ahead of their arch-rivals in second.
Rangers look as though they’ll put up some kind of challenge for the title this year especially since their failure to progress in the Europa League. Thanks to Rosenborg, Celtic progressed through to the next round despite losing 2-1 to Red Bull Salzburg.
Over the summer, Celtic lost star man Moussa Dembele and due to personal reasons, Leigh Griffiths is also taking some time away from the game. With that in mind, the club may be forced to dip into the January transfer window next month.
However, Brendan Rodgers needs to sort out a few problems in the side before any more additions come in. Recently, Celtic legend, Chris Sutton insisted that the club must sign Scott Brown to a new deal.
The former Celtic man is absolutely right, Rodgers can ill afford to lose Brown once his contract runs out. The hard-nosed midfielder represents so much for the club. He’s a natural leader and provides a much-needed physical presence for the side.
Although the likes of James Forrest and Callum McGregor have been in superb form, the Hoops still need a battler like Brown to play in the side. Against Salzburg, Tom Rogic and Scott Sinclair struggled and it was clear that Rodgers needed someone to come and shield the defence.
He may be past his best but he still provides so much for the club.
