Chelsea are a team of great individuals, but the Chelsea faithful here in the Football Transfer Tavern are holding out hope that they might be able to gel as full XI in the season ahead.
Chelsea’s main issue this year will almost certainly be squad depth, with The Blues failing to reinforce enough to cover the poor form of some of their stars.
Whilst Chelsea may struggle to put out a full XI of top stars, there is no doubting that The Blues could provide quite the 5-a-side team, particularly when you consider one of the players currently linked with a big money move to Stamford Bridge
With that, this is the DREAM Chelsea 5-a-side team, including purported transfer target Romelu Lukaku….
GK – Thibaut Courtois
Who else but Thibaut Courtois?
The shot stopper is near un-stoppable in a full size net, so you can only imagine how good he would be in a five a side team.
Agile and quick; he would be the perfect keeper.
One of the best in the world – no doubt.
CB – Kurt Zouma
The young French defender would make it into this team on the back of his impressive pace and technical ability, able to provide driving runs forward whilst also able to cover at the back.
Nobody is getting past big Kurt.
CM – Eden Hazard
A five-a-side fan favourite here in the Tavern, Eden Hazard’s tricks and pace would prove deadly in a five-a-side environment.
Chelsea fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are hopeful he will be back to his best this season; and if he can mirror what he did in the 2014/15 season; he could lead Chelsea to glory all on his own.
CM – N’Golo Kante
Contrasting Eden Hazard’s offensive prowess would be N’Golo Kante.
Quick, technical, strong; he is the perfect midfield stalwart in the heart of this 5-a-side team.
FWD – Romelu Lukaku
The big man up front.
He beats Diego Costa to the spot due to his electric pace and his strength going forward, able to prove a problem to even the greatest of the 5-a side defences.
He would be absolutely prolific.
