Manchester United fans in the Football Transfer Tavern were eager to get their first sighting of new United boss Jose Mourinho this season, and he duly delivered with an impressive 3-1 victory on the opening day. 

Perhaps more impressive than the managerial masterclass displayed by Jose Mourinho was the sheer quality that Manchester United have in their first team squad.

Even without the addition of Paul Pogba, United have a team ready to rival any side in world football.

Several players are no doubt a cut above the rest, and together they could form the most formidable five a side team in world football; particularly when you throw in one or two major signings that are still being linked with the club.

With that, this is the DREAM Manchester United five-a side team, including defensive target Jose Fonte…

GK – David De Gea

Who else but David De Gea – undoubtedly one of the best goalkeepers in world football.

Despite a slow start to life in Manchester, he has grown into an excellent shot stopper – and any side would struggle to get past him in a five a side environment.

CB – Jose Fonte

A key target of Jose Mourinho over the next couple of weeks, Jose Fonte could provide some well needed experience and depth at the heart of the Man Utd back line.

In a five a side environment, his composure at the back would be enviable, with the Portuguese defender able to prove a wall for any potential attacker.

CM – Paul Pogba

Easily the most sought after 11-a-side player in the world; that would no doubt continue into the 5-a-side game too.

He is technical, he can shoot, he can defend, he can dribble; Paul Pogba has it all. Manchester United fans here in the Tavern are backing him for a player of the year winning performance this season.

He would be unstoppable in the middle of this 5-a-side team.

CM – Anthony Martial

Anthony Martial would provide the tricks to this team, able to bring the ball forward and past any player that got in his way.

His only weakness is his defensive fragility, and that wouldn’t be a problem in this team.

He would be unstoppable.

FWD – Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Zlatan Ibrahimovic had all the tricks earlier inches career, and whilst he has reduced the complexity of his game – there is no doubting the threat that he would provide at the tip of this attacking 5 a side team.

Ibrahimovic is seemingly prolific in any league that he moves to, and that would no doubt extent to the five a side variety as well.
