Another thing I discovered that was of use however was a book called The Lane Of Dreams.
Now I must be honest, books on football can tend to pass me by. Primarily because I’m not a match report type of guy. And my brain, whilst blessed in many fields, doesn’t do stats.
The Lane Of Dreams is a genuine work of love. It’s lovingly written and it charts the entire history of Tottenham in a way that only a fan could write it. If MacKay was your man, he’s here. If Gazza was your boy, then look no further.
Whatever era or epoch in Tottingham Hotspur’s life was the one pertinent to you is here. Lavishly photographed with incidentally, an awful lot of pictures I hadn’t seen before.
It’s an effortless read and what is touching is an entire chapter dedicated to the epiphanies of fellow fans. The authour, Norman Giller advises on his website that a hanky might come in handy and he’s not far wrong. The stories are touching and in themselves invaluable social documents.
The book did so well on it’s initial run this is actually the second run and to celebrate it’s success, Norman has included an exclusive souvenir pullout .
This is a complete report and breakdown of the extraordinary Premier League match on November 22 2009 in which Spurs walloped Wigan 9-1. So a collector’s item within a collector’s item, if you will.
The original rum of these books came autographed by not only Norman but Steve Perryman and Jimmy Greaves. Wow. The autographs on there own would easily eclipse the £25 cover price alone.
