West Ham fans are hoping for a change of fortunes this season after seeing their side struggle to reach the heights of last year.
The club are currently one point above the relegation zone after a difficult first quarter of the season and will be hoping that they can get some momentum going as we head into the hectic Christmas period.
What will be interesting, after that, is how Slaven Bilic will deal in the January transfer market with the onus on him to get some signings right after a torrid summer.
Players like Simone Zaza and Gokhan Tore that came in during the last window have not impressed and so he needs to get things right this time around.
Rumours are that Troy Deeney could be the man West Ham go for to spruce up their attack and our landlord reckons that if they do sign the Watford man, this could be the Hammers’ new front-line…
LW: Dimitri Payet
Keeping the Frenchman is vital to any serious revival the Hammers want to have this season. He may not have been at the level we saw last season.
Still, we’ve seen some outrageously good things from him such as his goal against Middlesbrough and his rabona against Watford for Michail Antonio to score.
Losing him in January would be a huge blow to everyone connected with the club.
ST: Troy Deeney
Deeney is a powerhouse, a fighter and he doesn’t let knocks bother him – he could be everything the Hammers need up front.
He’s shown this season he’s good enough to be in the Premier League and he could be that missing piece up top that’s been gone for some time with Andy Carroll’s injuries.
Like Carroll, Deeney can bully and score goals, unlike Carroll he’s not made of glass and will roll with the punches.
RW: Michail Antonio
Antonio has arguably been West Ham’s best player and so has to be in the attacking line up.
He’s been utilised in all manner of different ways this season for the Hammers and performed admirably in all of them.
But it’s down the right and getting in the box where he is most effective. Premier League defenders are not going to relish the aerial threat an Antonio-Deeney alliance would pose up front.
