12 months ago, the Reds had been on the brink of a Premier League title until Jose Mourinho brought his side to Anfield, and the collapse since – bar three good months from January to March – has been catastrophic.
The Reds look set to miss out on the top four and any silverware this term, with the last three matches of the season set aside to say goodbye to Anfield legend Steven Gerrard.
Brendan Rodgers has plenty to do in the summer, and will head into the new campaign under growing pressure having recently become the first Liverpool boss in more than 70 years to go the first three years without a trophy.
If he has to field this XI at any point next season, it will surely prove the final nail in the coffin!

Brad Jones
The Australian is rumoured to be leaving Anfield in the summer, having not been offered a new contract.
Jones has been a loyal number two for Liverpool, but has never looked capable of making the step up to number one.
His time in place of Simon Mignolet saw him last just two matches and 20 minutes before injury struck – he conceded five goals during that period.
Glen Johnson
The former England man is another who is set to leave in the summer – to the relief of Liverpool fans everywhere.
But given the Reds transfer business in recent times, it would not come as a surprise if the club made a last minute decision to keep him at Anfield for next season – despite the fact it is obvious to everyone besides Brendan Rodgers that his legs have gone completely.
Now unable to cause any sort of problems going forward, Johnson’s defensive abilities seem to be getting worse with age. Not a good combination.
Kolo Toure
The Ivorian’s last start for the Reds came during the 4-1 humiliation at the hands of Arsenal, a match in which he gave a performance that proved he should not be allowed to make another one any time soon.
Toure has enjoyed a mixed Liverpool career to say the least, and now at 35, it seems as though he will move on this summer in search of more regular first team football – to the relief of Reds fans everywhere.
Sebastian Coates
A signing that simply has not worked out, Uruguayan centre back Sebastian Coates has been plagued by injuries and poor form since moving to Anfield in the summer of 2011.
He has spent this season on loan at Premier League strugglers Sunderland, where he has failed to impress.
Due to head back to Liverpool this summer, surely the club will be on the lookout for someone willing to take him off their hands on a permanent basis.
Jose Enrique
The Spaniard has endured a nightmare two years at Anfield.
He missed almost the entirity of last season with a knee injury, and this season has been a similar story – not making a Premier League appearance since a win over QPR in November.
Whenever he has featured, Enrique has understandably looked off the pace. He is another who will struggled to stay at the club this summer.
Lazar Markovic
One of the marquee signings of last summer for the Reds, the first season of Lazar Markovic’s Liverpool career has been one to forget.
For £20million, Liverpool appear to have signed a young winger frightened to take players on and deliver any sort of end product.
He has not completed 90 minutes for the Reds this season, and often finds himself hooked at half time of any game he starts – his influence on the game has been that poor.
Joe Allen
Brendan Rodgers appears to be a huge supporter of the Welsh international, but Liverpool supporters on the whole remain unconvinced.
In the right system, and with a run of matches under his belt, Allen has looked a decent asset on occasions. But inconsistency has been his downfall, and he cannot be relied upon in the absence of more senior midfielders.
It will be interesting to see where his Liverpool career goes from here, with Brendan Rodgers set to sign a new midfielder in the summer once Steven Gerrard departs for LA.
Jordan Williams
Another Welsh midfielder on the club’s books, Jordan Williams managed his first appearance for the club in the Capital Cup win over Middlesbrough last September – the game with the never-ending penalty shootout.
Still young, inexperienced and raw, his selection next season would represent a major injury crisis for the Reds to contend with.
A loan spell next term may be the ideal scenario for the 20-year-old.
Alberto Moreno
The Spaniard is another player who has enjoyed a questionable first season as a Liverpool player. After scoring a fine solo goal in only his second game for the club, many predicted Moreno would make a major impact going forward for the Reds this term.
Besides a strike against Swansea in December however, the former Sevilla man has contributed very little going forward in a left wing back role, whilst defensively he looks vulnerable.
He was all over the place during the costly 2-1 home defeat to Manchester United in March, and has plenty to prove next season, whether deployed at left back or in a more attacking role.
Mario Balotelli
The £16million signing of Mario Balotelli has simply been a disaster for the Reds.
The Italian has managed just four goals in all competitions this season, and no shortage of disappointing performances and injuries.
He has simply not fitted into Rodgers style of play, and will surely be sold in the summer after an experiment that looked as though it would fail almost from the word go.
Rickie Lambert
Rickie Lambert pips Fabio Borini to the starting role, simply because he has been given more chances to impress this season – chances he hasn’t taken.
Lambert looks set to move on from his boyhood club with a record of three goals in 33 appearances (11 starts), having completed a £4million move last summer.
Liverpool’s strikers have been the problem all season, with Balotelli, Lambert and Borini having managed a measly eight strikes combined in all competitions this term.
It would be a major disappointment for all supporters if any of them were left to lead the line next season.
