You always get the feeling with different clubs that some are more determined to look after youngsters than others and certainly, Arsenal like to do that more than most.

The Gunners have got one of the best academies around but whilst a lot can be said for that there does seem to be a bit of a disconnect between the first team and the younger levels.

Indeed, looking at Arsenal’s regular line-up there’s very few products of the academy in the side and so whilst they’re given the very best treatment during their time with the club, ultimately, they are let down when it comes to the crunch.

It’s something our resident Gunners fans here in the Transfer Tavern want the club to start addressing quickly but our landlord reckons it’ll be too late for these two youngsters who, in all honesty, won’t make it for the club…

Here’s a closer look at two who just won’t make the grade.

Chupa Akpom

Akpom just isn’t going to be an Arsenal striker, to be frank.

Whilst he has the ability to play in perhaps the Championship, it’s becoming clearer and clearer that he isn’t at the level to lead a title challenging attack.

He’s currently injured until the New Year, but once he recovers he needs to start looking for a new club instead of sitting around with the north London side.

Jon Toral

The attacking midfielder has spent plenty of time on-loan during his Arsenal career and whilst he’s shown he’s a decent player, he’s not a Gunners-level player.

He’s currently enduring a tough temporary spell with La Liga side Granada who, are looking pretty set on getting themselves relegated this season having yet to win again.

Toral should be doing more to sort that if he was good enough for Arsenal.
