These 2 January signings would take Celtic to the next level

Life’s been going pretty well for the Celtic fans in the Transfer Tavern ever since Brendan Rodgers was installed as Ronny Deila’s successor earlier this year.

Despite winning two league titles in two years under the aforementioned Norwegian’s stewardship, the Bhoys somehow managed to stagnate over the course of his tenure at Parkhead.

So, with the former Liverpool manager in charge of the Hoops right now, the Bhoys propping up the bar are excited for what is hopefully both a long and prosperous project under his guide.

The Northern Irishman has already added some quality to the ranks in just one transfer window, though the fast-approaching January sales could well afford him another chance.

In line to bank big money thanks to their Champions League exploits, the SPFL giants could really help Rodgers take them to a new level on the field, should they back him off of it.

With that in mind, here are TWO January signings to take Celtic to the next level.

James McCarthy

Unable to get much in the way of game time at Everton right now, known Celtic fans James McCarthy would be a wonderful addition to the holding midfield role.

Though skipper Scott Brown looks a lot more energetic this term, McCarthy would be a huge step up and a man capable of holding down the fort during big Champions League nights.

James Morrison

Linked with a late switch to Parkhead in the summer, Scotland international James Morrison is another unable to get a game in the Premier League.

The West Brom star is a masterful passer of the ball and can play in a variety of positions, either pulling the strings to allow willing runners to break behind enemy lines, or operate as a natural winger.
